  • Always be alert and aware of your surroundings and the people around you
     
  • Paying too much attention to an electronic device (iPod, cell phone, game system) can make you a target
     
  • Do not make it obvious that you have an electronic device, and avoid using one on the street
     
  • Don’t display your valuables in public view (money, jewelry, electronic devices, etc.)
     
  • Wearing ear or headphones prevents you from hearing what may be happening around you
     
  • Be aware of locations and situations that may make you vulnerable to crime, such as dark parking lots, walkways, alleyways and restrooms
     
  • Walk confidently and at a steady pace, and make eye contact with people
     
  • If you feel someone is following you, move to a well-populated area
     
  • Whenever possible travel with a friend; there is safety in numbers
     
  • Stay in well-lighted areas as much as possible
     
  • Walk close to the curb and avoid doorways, bushes and alleys where someone could hide
     
  • Report suspicious activity immediately by calling 9-1-1

You will find the activation code within the box labeled "Parent/Guardian Information."
